So, now we have settled in for winter at White Beach, Tasmania.

We are house sitting at www.hapersonthebeach.com

In actuality, we are dog sitting Rory and Lily, the two Labradors that live here.

Its a wonderful opportunity for us to do some study and meditation retreat. Its quiet and clean and located mid-way along a 2km white crescent beach on the Tasman Peninsula in the south-east of Tasmania near Port Arthur.

There are some spectacular locations nearby, on the ocean side and on the Derwent Channel side. Roaring Beach was a surprise, facing south-west into the Great Southern Ocean and has a regular north-east wind blowing offshore. This creates astonishingly good surf in a south-west swell.

We are running free Learn to Meditate classes in Richmond, Tasmania. Classes start at 10:00 am on Saturday 23 and 24 October in the Richmond Town Hall.

The purpose of meditation is to make our minds calm and peaceful. Currently our minds are used to roaming around from one thing to another, constantly moving. We have very little control. It’s through learning to meditate that we can gain control of our minds and our lives. We become better people, more able to help others, and ourselves.

In addition, meditation helps reduce stress and anxiety, which leads to better health and higher levels of happiness. A daily meditation practice enables new ways of thinking, insights, and genuine creative thought.

We have finished our Buddhist studies at Diamond Mountain University near Tucson, Arizona. Our teachers, Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally said we have everything we need to attain enlightenment in this life. They said that we should help others acquire the same knowledge so people can find out how to improve the quality of life generally, and to make life more meaningful.

Our aim is to set up free classes in Buddhism and meditation. Juicy themes such How Karma Works, Past and Future Lives and the True Nature of Reality will be on offer.
